Thorax: with numerous segments, non-fulcrate; axis often spine-bearing.
Pygidium: narrow, with few segments.
Other: earliest trilobites in Cambrian stratigraphy; no calcified protaspis known; body flattened; cuticle thin.
Superfamilies: Olenelloidea, Fallotaspidoidea

Superfamily Olenelloidea
Cephalon: glabellar outline concave, anterior glabellar lobe (LA) usually enlarged, glabella narrowest at L2 or S1, L3 usually modified distally with posterolateral part bending backward and encroaching on L2; ocular lobe connects only to posterolateral part of LA. Compare to Fallotaspidoidea.
