Some Special Morphological Terms

In addition to the standard terms for the typical dorsal morphology of trilobites, there are some terms that are used to describe features that are specific to certain orders and/or suborders. Often, these are terms used because of distinguishing variations in form. For example, the glabellar lobes of Lichida do not show simple lateral furrows and lobes, but are typically fused into central and lateral lobes.  Below are some examples of special terms applied to certain trilobite groups.
