Akantarges Couche
Devonian Period
Tinjdad
Our first site of the day was a Devonian exposure on the floor of the valley about 20 minutes from Alnif
We did not excavate any new material, we spent our time exploring and cracking any promising looking scraps from prior excavations.
The trilobites could be found peeking from the rocks and other fossils could be found as well.
We came away with a few possible complete trilobites, a couple of ammonites, some small coral bits and fragmentary nautiloids.
I also kept several broken trilobite scraps for honing my preparation skills.
The matrix from each locality is different so its good to have some pieces for practice.
